Old Friend is our staple coffee here at Thunder. While it is the espresso blend we use in our shops, it also stands out as a great option for any brewing method. Our updated version of Old Friend features a blend of Colombia and Mexico offerings. Both come to us through our friends at Falcon Coffee.

The Colombia half of our blend comes to us from the ACC association in the Cauca region of Colombia. This small group of farmers in the Piendamó municipality have banded together in promoting peace, opportunity and interest in specialty coffee. The organization also aids with technology so the farms can offer consistent and innovation production, as well as a dedicated Q-grader to accurately evaluate and price their coffees. Varietals in their blend mainly include Tabi, Caturra, Colombia and Pink Bourbon with growing ranges varying from 1700-2100 MASL. In the cup we find remarkable acidity, lended to the coffee by the nearby volcano, and a comforting brown sugar sweetness.

The other half is from the Veracruz Region of Mexico. Veracruz, a region in southern Mexico, is known as the "capital of coffee" within the country and it certainly shows. This coffee rounds out the espresso blend remarkably well, providing a tasty chocolate backbone to every shot we pull.

These two coffees blend well to create a very recognizable espresso profile: lots of chocolate and dried red fruits. The care put into growing them shines through in a notable depth and complexity. This ensures each cup is dynamic and tasty to the last drop.
