All Fringe, No Frill is back! The offerings in this line consist of washed coffees from Africa, showcasing delicate florals, bright citrus and ripe fruits. They are layered, clear coffees with a generally lighter roast.

Kenya's coffees have been wonderful this year so what better option for our washed Africa slot than a lovely Kenya. This one in particular is Kichwa Tembo, a staple community lot from our friends at Cafe Imports.

Kichwa Tembo, which means “elephant head” in Swahili, is a symbol of strength for Cafe Imports. Their signature Kichwa Tembo offerings showcase a classic, hardworking Kenya profile, featuring citrus fruits like grapefruit with bright, tangy acidity, balanced sweetness, and the complexity you’d expect from a Kenya coffee.

Kichwa Tembo is grown a large variety of smallholder farmers in the south-central highlands of Kenya, including regions like Kirinyaga and Nyeri. These farmers typically have around 150 to 300 coffee trees on their farms. Since their farms are too small to operate their own mills, they bring their ripe coffee cherries to cooperative wet mills, from which their coffee can be sourced. 

In the cup we find a pleasant brown sugar sweetness followed up by grapefruit and tropical fruit's. It's a complicated, layered light roast with a pronounced sweetness that keeps things really pleasant.
